Main Resorts

Puerto del Carmen – only ten minutes drive from the airport this is Lanzarote’s main tourist resort offering over 6km of golden sandy beaches, it has been voted the best resort in the Canary Islands for many years and has the benefit of a main promenade stretching from the Old Town harbour right through to Matagorda, 8km away. There are many restaurants, duty free shops and bars on this main promenade and there is also a vibrant nightlife for the energetic with late night discos and clubs. The Puerto beach flies the Blue Flag awarded for a pollution free environment and the sea is reasonably shallow so offers a great opportunity for swimmers of all ages. There is a large choice of excellent restaurants offering international cuisine and fresh fish is the speciality in the harbour area where you can also book boat and fishing trips. Most of the hotel and apartment accommodation is situated near to the main beach road and the luxury private villas with pools are normally located in more tranquil positions but still within easy reach of all of the resorts amenities.

Costa Teguise – again only a ten minute drive from the airport it’s the windsurfing capital of the Canaries, it’s a quieter and more relaxed resort but has the islands only 18 hole tournament golf course as well as a large Water Park. The golden sand beaches are scattered along the seafront and the restaurant, bar and shops are less concentrated but still offer the same quality as Puerto. Due to its layout most of the accommodation here is normally within a short walk of a beach and other facilities and accommodation includes 4 and 5 star hotels, good quality modern apartment complexes and again a good selection of bungalows & villas with private pools.

Playa Blanca – thirty minutes drive from airport

The once quiet fishing village is now a thriving holiday community. Playa Blanca now has the new Rubicon Marina which is now being hailed as the Puerto Banus of the Canaries. Located to the west of this resort, are the beautiful beach coves of Papagayo. There is a regular ferry service from Playa Blanca to the nearby Island of Fuerteventura. Accommodation comprises mainly of hotels with some bungalows & villas.

Countryside Locations

Many of the tourists who visit the island year after year opt for quieter situations in the country away from the main tourist resorts, they find the tranquillity of these positions more suitable for away-from-it all holidays and they get a chance to blend in with the locals. Lanzarote is only a small island and as most of these more selective tourists will have a rental car they still have ready access to all the islands main attractions but they will probably choose to eat out in individual country restaurants to enjoy traditional Canarian food at its best.

Of these country locations the most selected are Oasis de Nazaret, Macher, Tias.

Oasis de Nazaret – fifteen minutes from airport

A quiet countryside urbanisation of detached villas situated in the centre of the Island enabling easy access to all areas by car. Oasis de Nazaret offers stunning views and is the perfect situation for a peaceful and tranquil holiday, chill out around the heated pool in the daytime and discover the special cuisine of local Canarian restaurants in the evening. Still only ten minutes drive to closest beaches and less to the islands main golf course, many tourists re-book here year after year. A car is required.

Macher – fifteen minutes from airport

A quiet rural location on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen. Ideal for a totally private and relaxing holiday with the advantage of just a short drive to the busy resort of Puerto del Carmen. A car is required

Tias – ten minutes from airport

A busy town overlooking the resort of Puerto del Carmen. Away from the hustle and bustle but not too far that you won’t be able to enjoy its benefits. Tias has good supermarkets, shops and restaurants. A car is not necessary but recommended.
